Explore Buddhism: What Does Death Mean?

Sat 25 April 2026 - 10.30am - 12.30pm

At Heruka Kadampa Meditation Centre, Golders Green

With Kadam John McBretney

Death is something we all must face, yet many of us feel unprepared, uncertain, or even fearful when thinking about it. In Buddhism, understanding death is not morbid—it is deeply empowering. By exploring the nature of death with clarity and wisdom, we can learn how to live more meaningfully, reduce fear, and develop a calm, positive approach to life’s most unavoidable transition.

In this short talk, Kadam John will explain the Buddhist understanding of death, the process of dying, and how this knowledge can bring greater peace, purpose, and acceptance into our daily lives. This session is perfect for beginners and anyone curious about Buddhism’s practical perspectives on death and impermanence. There will be opportunities for questions.

You will:

  • Understand the Buddhist view of death and dying
  • Learn how reflection reduces fear and increases peace
  • Discover how understanding impermanence gives life meaning and purpose

Everyone is welcome.
