Learn to meditate

The sessions include guided meditations and instructions from an experienced teacher.
Meditation Centre for Modern Buddhism
Find lasting peace and happiness through meditation
Heruka Kadampa Meditation Centre is a well-established and popular London meditation Centre operating in the heart of city and the surrounding areas.
For the time-being the Centre is running all its meditation classes and weekend courses online. In due course, local meditation classes will resume at all our 15 London venues, and our weekend courses & retreats will continue at the main Centre in Golders Green.
Enhancing meditation and studying Buddhist teachings
Heruka Kadampa Meditation Centre runs weekly meditation classes and weekend meditation courses open to everyone. These are all part of the General Programme. There are also two systematic study programmes - the Foundation Programme and the Teacher Training Programme - for students who wish to understand and practise Buddha's teachings more deeply, and if they wish, learn to become qualified Kadampa Teachers.
By listening to the Buddha's teachings, including instructions on wisdom and compassion, as taught at this leading London meditation centre we will come to develop increasingly positive views and intentions. By combining this experience with training in authentic meditation techniques, these beneficial ways of thinking will become part of our daily attitudes and beliefs.
Subscriptions and memberships from £30/month

We offer subscription and membership options. These give you full access to a range of online weekday classes and weekend events at a modest flat fee. A subscription or membership is ideal if you want to engage in continuous training in meditation or broaden your understanding of Buddhist teachings.
Pujas, festivals and special events
In addition to meditation classes, Heruka KMC runs pujas or chanted prayers, offers meditation retreats and, as a member of the New Kadampa Tradition-International Kadampa Buddhist Union, provides access International Kadampa Festivals.
We all have the two basic wishes: to be free from everyday problems and to find lasting peace and happiness. With Buddhist meditation we have the actual method to realise these two goals. Through contemplating Buddha’s practical insights we will gradually reduce negative, unpeaceful minds - such as anxiety, anger, stress, loneliness and dissatisfaction - and replace them with more peaceful states - including patience, love, compassion and consideration for others. This process of spiritual development will make us happier, more positive and much better able to help those around us.

ALL MEDITATION CLASSES ARE BEING STREAMED ONLINE
A full weekly programme of meditation classes is available online while our teaching venues are temporarily closed.

Introducing modern Buddhism in London
All the teachings and meditations taught at Heruka KMC come under the umbrella of 'modern Buddhism', which is 'a special presentation of Buddha's teachings on compassion and wisdom that communicates their essence in a way that is easy to understand and put into practice'.
Following the teachings of Kadampa Buddhism, as taught by Venerable Atisha and Je Tsongkhapa centuries ago, the founder of modern Buddhism in this world, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, encourages everyone to use these teachings to train in both compassion and wisdom. With compassion and wisdom, 'like the two wings of a bird, we can quickly reach the enlightened world of a Buddha'.
"Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible"
Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso
