Universal Compassion
Sundays 10am - 12noon, 12.45pm - 2.15pm
Beginning Sunday 2 Februrary 2025
The heart of Buddha’s teachings is unconditional love and compassion. In this inspiring explanation of the popular Buddhist poem "Training the Mind in Seven Points", Geshe Kelsang reveals powerful and far-reaching methods for us to develop these altruistic states. Ancient meditative techniques that have been tried and tested for centuries are brought alive and made relevant to our everyday experiences.
The text also gives a practical explanation of how we can transform our day-to-day problems – even the most demanding and difficult conditions – into opportunities for personal and spiritual development.
To have the opportunity to practise this precious and profound teaching is infinitely more meaningful than being given all the precious jewels in the world. If we understand how extremely worthwhile it is to read, listen to, study, contemplate, and engage in the practice of this very special Dharma, we will do so with great faith and a happy mind.
The Teacher of TTP is Kadam John McBretney, the Resident Teacher of Heruka KMC. He has been studying, practising and teaching Kadampa Buddhism for 30 years. Kadam John has received oral teachings directly from Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche over a long time and he incorporates many inspiring aspects of these teachings into the study programmes that he teaches.

Teacher Training Programme (TTP) offers practitioners of Kadampa Buddhism the opportunity to study deeply, gain practical experience of both Sutra and Tantra and, if they wish, train to become qualified Dharma Teachers. However it’s not just for those who wish to teach formally, because we all teach through our example and the advice we give to friends and family. TTP gives us great confidence in our own practice and in our ability to explain Kadam Dharma to others.

Sundays 10am - 12noon, 12.45pm - 2.15pm
The programme consists of a dynamic combination of teachings, meditations, discussion and teaching skills classes providing a multi-faceted approach to the development of authentic spiritual experience.

With Resident Teacher Kadam John McBretney
Students on the programme are required to observe several commitments, namely to keep good discipline, attend all the teaching and discussion classes as well as sit examinations. Students are also encouraged to participate in regular meditation retreats that will be scheduled throughout the year.
