About the classes
These meditation classes in Angel, Islington, are for anyone who wants a calmer, clearer mind, whether you've never meditated before or have practised for years.
While each class stands alone, taken together they also offer a bridge into a deeper journey — exploring how freedom from stress can be the first step on a path to lasting happiness and inner transformation, known in the Buddhist tradition as the path to enlightenment.
Each class includes guided meditations, a talk, and time for questions. No previous experience is needed.
The Teacher

Richard Batty has been studying and practising Kadampa Buddhism for many years. He is known for making the teachings clear, practical, and relevant to everyday life. He shares Dharma in a way that is grounded, accessible, and easy to apply. He brings warmth, humour, and an approachable style to helping others develop greater peace of mind, wisdom and happiness.
Relax in a Peaceful Setting
Meditate comfortably in a tranquil space on chairs. No special clothing is needed — just come as you are.
Be Part of a Welcoming Community
Connect with friendly people who share an interest in meditation. Come a little early to meet others before the class begins.
Take your first step towards a calmer, happier life — everyone is welcome.

Everyone is welcome
"Happiness is a part of the mind that experiences inner peace, or peace of mind, so the real source of happiness must lie within the mind, not in external conditions."
