This special fasting and purification practice is very powerful for purifying negative karma of body, speech, and mind, and for pacifying strong delusions such as desirous attachment and hatred. It is also a special method for receiving blessings and improving our experience of love, compassion, and bodhichitta.
Resident Teacher, Kadam John McBretney, will grant precepts on both days at the centre at 6.30am.

- Mahayana Precepts: 6.30am – 7.15am*
- Session 1: 8.00am – 9.15am
- Session 2: 10.30am – 11.45am
- Session 3: 3.30pm – 4.45pm

Wishfulfilling Jewel prayers 12.00 – 12.45pm
*Note: Anyone wishing to join any sessions of the retreat is required to take precepts on the day.

Kadam John McBretney
Kadam John is the Resident Teacher of Heruka Kadampa Meditation Centre. He has studied and practised Kadampa Buddhism for many years under the guidance of his Spiritual Teacher, the fully accomplished meditation master and internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso.
He explains how to use Buddha’s teachings to solve our daily problems and find real happiness. He teaches the three Study Programmes established by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, General Programme, Foundation Programme and Teacher Training Programme, through which he inspires everyone to develop wisdom and a good heart towards others so that we can develop and maintain happy, peaceful minds in our busy daily lives.

From Golders Green underground station (northern line, Edgware branch) walk straight ahead, towards the clock tower. Turn right onto Golders Green Road where the main parade of shops is. Walk past the coffee shops on your left and after about 50 metres turn left at NatWest bank onto Hodford Road. Woodstock Road is the second turning on the right and Heruka KMC is about 100 metres on the left side of Woodstock Road.
