Stress and anxiety are endemic in our busy, fast-paced life. We tend to think that situations or people in our life are the causes of our stress and fear, so we spend a lot of time mentally trying to figure out how to fix those situations or people, which often just makes our mind unhappy. Buddha taught that all our unhappiness and stress comes from our mind. More specifically it comes from our unrealistic expectations and our exaggerated views of ourself, the people around us and the world in general. By learning to identify the actual causes of stress and unhappy thoughts we can begin to understand how to become free from them. We will explore special ways of thinking and meditations that reduce and overcome our painful feelings.

We will also learn the difference between love and attachment. Pure love works – it always makes us happy. Attachment doesn’t work – it always leads to disappointment and pain. By distinguishing between these very different, but often mixed, states of mind we will learn how to cultivate authentic loving kindness, which will make our relationships more stable and satisfying and solve many of our daily problems.
